The Importance of Mentoring

One thing we all have in common, regardless of race, economic status or  background, is that we wouldn’t be where we are today without the role of a mentor in our lives; someone that helped write our life story.

According to recent studies:

                   • 44 million adults would seriously consider mentoring a kid.
                   • 17 million kids could benefit from a mentoring relationship.
                   • Only 3 million kids were being mentored.

So consider being a part of a kid’s life story.

Do Something Big Today: Mentor a Kid

Mentoring is a year long intentional relationship between a kid and a trained character-driven adult.  Boys To Men operates two programs for you to develop someone’s life story.

Children of Promise – Provides mentoring for youth age 4-18 who have an incarcerated parent and live in Carter, Johnson, and Washington counties.

180° – Provides mentoring and educational experiences for students in the 4th-8th grades at Northside, Southside, Fairmont, Indian Trial, and Science Hill.

Our mentors are motivated because they:

                   • Want to help young people succeed,
                   • Want to make a difference in someone’s life,
                   • Want to give back to the community,
                   • Have religious and spiritual reasons or…
                   • Remember someone helped them when they were young.

And many understand that there is a battle to capture the hearts, minds, and futures of the next generation!
